The birth of a child is a moment filled with joy and anticipation. But sometimes, fate takes an unexpected turn, and newborns arrive with serious health issues. It's a heartbreaking moment for parents, one that no one wishes to experience.
In the New Orleans area, we're fortunate to have Ochsner Baptist, one of only two LEVEL 4 Neonatal Intensive Care Units (NICUs) in the state. Ochsner Baptist plays a vital role in providing specialized care not just to our local community but also to families from Louisiana and Mississippi.
Imagine the emotional rollercoaster for parents whose babies are born with critical conditions. Many of these little ones require MRI scans during their stay. Currently, the process is not only time-consuming but can be uncomfortable and unsettling for these fragile infants.
Our Mission: We are on a mission to make this journey smoother for these babies and their families.
Ochsner Health and Ochsner Baptist are investing $1.6 million in a new MRI unit, but we need your help to take it to the next level. With an additional $364,887.40, we can acquire the latest MR Diagnostics Incubator System known as nomag®IC ADVANCED, developed by LMT Medical Systems GmbH.
How Does It Help?
Improved Comfort: This advanced incubator system will maintain the perfect temperature and humidity for these precious patients during MRI scans, ensuring their comfort and well-being.
Efficiency: With this new system, we can significantly reduce the time spent on scans. Instead of an hour or more, we can complete scans in just 20 minutes, minimizing the stress and discomfort for these tiny warriors.
Less Sedation: By maintaining a consistent environment, we can often eliminate the need for sedation, reducing the risks associated with it.
Noise Reduction: The system also minimizes exposure to MRI noise, creating a more peaceful experience for the babies.
